An important way to combat gastritis is a therapeutic diet. A gentle meal menu helps reduce stomach stress and prevents wall irritation. The exact list of edible and inedible foods depends on the type of disease and the characteristics of its course.
How to eat in case of gastritis?
In the case of low acidity of gastric juice, a diet for gastritis is relevant, which excludes mechanical irritation of the diseased mucosa and stimulates secretion. This is called Table 2.
There are also desserts for the stomach on the diet table. The list of allowed sweets includes: jam, marshmallow, jelly, souffle, pudding, unleavened cookies. If tolerated, you can treat yourself to condensed milk or a scoop of homemade ice cream.
What should be excluded from the diet for gastritis?
- Excess fat - fried food, rich broth, lard, smoked meat;
- coarse fiber - raw vegetables, legumes, bran, nuts;
- hot spices - mustard, ketchup, horseradish, pepper, garlic and onion;
- high salt content - sausages, canned food, homemade products, pickles;
- bakery products - cakes, puff pastry, any freshly made bread.
Due to difficult digestion, you should not eat fatty meats and fish, some cereals (millet, corn, barley, pearl barley).
Soda, kvass, alcohol, strong tea and coffee are harmful to the sick stomach. Hard-boiled eggs are prohibited for any type of gastritis.
As for dairy products, it is not recommended to consume yogurt, kefir or whey in case of high acidity. Small amounts of sour cream and cream are used to flavor the food. Spicy and savory cheeses are not on the menu.
What to eat when gastritis worsens
In acute gastritis, fasting is often introduced on the first day, but after 12-24 hours, eating should not be refused. In the first week, they mainly consume light liquid foods: vegetable puree, slimy porridge in water (oatmeal, rice).
With 3-4 days of diet, as gastritis gets worse, you can choose the following menu:
- gel;
- steamed omelette;
- mashed potatoes;
- cottage cheese souffle.
If it becomes lighter and a severe discomfort in the stomach can eat steamed meatballs and slices, white bread cakes, cooked lean meats and fish pieces, biscuit biscuits. After about 2 weeks, the meal is based on the principle of diet 1 or 2.
Approximate menu of the day
- First breakfast: 1 soft-boiled egg or 3-4 quail eggs, a serving of oatmeal (if tolerated, can also be eaten with raisins), oiled toast, a cup of tea with 1-2 tablespoons of cream.
- Second breakfast: several biscuits, a glass of thick apple jelly.
- Lunch: 1 bowl of vegetable soup, the second - fish cake with rice garnish, dried fruit compote.
- Afternoon snack: baked apple stuffed with cottage cheese, a cup of cocoa.
- Dinner: 2 Greek people with minced meat (steamed), some mashed potatoes, a slice of dried bread, tea with a slice of lemon.
- Before going to bed: a cup of non-cold kefir (in case of gastritis with increased stomach acid, replace it with warm milk).
The diet for gastritis is based on this menu. But the absence of unpleasant symptoms is checked individually.
Discomfort or difficulty after a meal cannot be ignored. You may want to reduce your portions, review your diet or recipes for preparing individual meals.

Multiple diet recipes
Steamed fish slices.
In gastritis, diet recipes include the use of lean fish. It is useful to eat hake, cod, pollock at least 2-3 times a week. You can buy ready-made fillets. Otherwise, you need to cut the fish carcass.
- 200 g of fish fillet;
- 50 g white breadcrumbs;
- 3 tablespoons milk;
- 1 egg white;
- 15 g butter;
- salt to a minimum.
Stir the paste soaked in milk into the fish fillet. Salt the dough, roll twice in a grinder. Add protein to the minced meat, mix thoroughly. Make small patties and simmer. Pour melted butter on the pan before serving.
Steamed omelette.
Quail eggs are a great alternative to eggs in omelettes. They are found to be very useful and also prove to be finer.
- 10 quail eggs;
- 3-4 tablespoons of milk;
- 2 teaspoons flour;
- pinch of salt;
- vegetable oil (for greasing mold).
Beat several times and mix the eggs. All other ingredients except oil are added to them. Many gastritis recipes allow you to use finely chopped greens so you can throw in the smell of dill. Beat the mass slightly and pour into a smeared form, cook in a steam bath.
Baked apples with cottage cheese.
This recipe is suitable even for people with acute gastritis. In case of illness, especially in the first weeks, the list of allowed fruits is small. They are usually fried bananas and apples. The dessert is easy to digest and contains pectin, which improves digestion.
- 3-4 apples;
- 100 g of low-fat cottage cheese;
- 1 egg yolk;
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar;
- 10 g of starch.
Wash the fruit well, cut off the top in the form of a "lid". Carefully remove the seeds and pulp in a circle with a small spoon. Apples must have walls of at least 1 cm.
In a blender, mix the cottage cheese with powdered sugar, yolk and starch. If there is, add vanilla sugar. Tightly “fill” the apples with the sweet mass and place in a side shape. The dessert should be kept for 20-25 minutes in an oven that has been turned on at 200 degrees. If you pour a little water on the bottom of the baking sheet, the baked apple will become softer.
